Burglary and Theft Arrest

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, at approximately 7:21 PM, an officer from the Pittsburg Police Department responded to 600 Memorial Drive in reference to a burglary that occurred at the ball fields concession stand. A City of Pittsburg employee checking the property found a broken window at the concession stand and items were found to have been stolen. Information was collected for the burglary report and video footage of the theft was located. Video footage showed the theft occurred earlier in the day and a suspect was shown in the video causing damage and taking items.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, at approximately 12:12 AM, officers from the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to Four Oaks Golf Course located at 910 Memorial Drive in reference to a commercial alarm. When officers arrived, they found the glass door had been shattered. Officers cleared the business and nobody was located inside. An employee responded and information was collected for the burglary report. Video footage at the business showed the suspect breaking the door and stealing items from the business. Based on the video footage from the golf course and the concession stand video, the investigation into the burglaries appeared to involve the same suspect.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, at approximately 9:59 AM, an officer from the Pittsburg Police Department responded to Mai Thai Massage located at 810 N Broadway in reference to a burglary report. The reporting party arrived to find their front glass door shattered and items missing from inside the business. Information was gathered and a burglary report was taken. Video footage was collected from the area, and two suspects, a male and a female, were identified as being involved in the burglary.

Investigation into these incidents showed that they were related, and the female suspect was identified. The Pittsburg Police Department was unable to identify the male suspect, and a social media post was published requesting assistance from the public. Information was received from the public assisting in the identification of the male suspect.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at approximately 10:35 00 AM, officers located 24-year-old Austeen E. Legitt at her residence in Pittsburg. Ms. Legitt was transported to the Pittsburg Police Department for questioning, and she was subsequently placed under arrest for one count of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft in relation to her involvement in the Mai Thai Massage burglary. Ms. Legitt was transported to the Crawford County Jail and later released on an OR bond.

On Friday, May 15, 2026, at approximately 1:15 PM officers with the police department conducting follow up on the burglary investigation, located 39-year-old Jacob L. Denton, in the 3200 block of North Broadway. Mr. Denton was taken to the Pittsburg Police Department and questioned about the ongoing burglary investigations. As a result, Mr. Denton was placed under arrest for three counts of felony burglary, three counts of misdemeanor theft, and three counts of misdemeanor criminal damage. Mr. Denton is currently being held without bond.

The Pittsburg Police Department would like to thank the citizens who submitted tips and provided information for these cases.

Surveillance cameras played a crucial role in the successful resolution of these cases. The footage obtained from various cameras in and around the area provided officers with invaluable evidence. These recordings not only helped identify the suspect but also assisted in tracking their movements and linking them to the different crimes. The images captured on these systems were instrumental in advancing the investigation, ultimately leading to the arrest of Ms. Legitt and Mr. Denton.

Ms. Legitt and Mr. Denton are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
