Water valve relocation (Walnut & South Quincy)

City Press Releases

September 7, 2018

The City of Pittsburg Water Distribution crew will be relocating a water valve currently located in the middle of Walnut Street at the intersection of South Quincy Street to prevent any interruption of work being done in conjunction with the 2018 Street Improvements Project.  Work will begin on Monday, September 10, and is anticipated to be completed and the intersection reopened to traffic by the end of the week.

Residents in the immediate area of this intersection may experience two to three temporary water outages during this construction. These outages are anticipated to occur in the mid-morning to early afternoon hours only.

Motorist traveling south bound along Walnut Street are encouraged to utilize Jefferson Street for connection to Broadway Street or traveling to the US Highway 69 bypass.

Due to the nature of the work, changes to traffic patterns and traffic delays are expected. Traffic barricades and advanced warning signage will be placed in the area to divert traffic away from the intersection.  Motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution in the work zone or to plan a different travel route during this construction.

The City of Pittsburg appreciates the patience of motorists and residents while this work is being performed.  Please contact the Public Utilities Department at (620) 240-5126 with questions regarding this project.
