Street improvements project update

City Press Releases

October 24, 2018

Work continues on the City of Pittsburg 2018 Street Improvements Project, which involves milling existing asphalt, overlay of new asphalt and the installation of traffic pavement marking in two Pittsburg neighborhoods. Areas affected include West Quincy Street and Countryside Addition.

West Quincy Street:

Thursday, October 25, starting at 8 am, crews are expected to begin installation of a new concrete valley gutter. Walnut Street will be closed at the Quincy Street intersection Thursday, October 25, and will reopen Wednesday, October 31, weather permitting.

Walnut Street traffic will detour east at Jackson Street onto Broadway Street. Traffic on West Quincy Street will remain open but will be narrowed near the area of construction. Once the valley gutter work is complete, the contractor is expected to begin asphalt work along Quincy Street.

Countryside Addition:

Concrete work in the Countryside neighborhood is coming to an end and the contractor is expected to finish asphalt work the latter part of next week.

Motorists should use extreme caution when traveling in the area of construction and be aware of workers in the work zone. The City of Pittsburg appreciates the patience of motorists and residents while this work is being performed.
