July 2, 2018

The City of Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department is teaming up with Challenger Sports, providers of the most popular soccer camp in North America, to host a week-long youth British Soccer Camp during the week of July 16 – July 20, at the Pittsburg State University Robert W. Plaster Center.

The camp will run Monday through Friday, and each child will be coached by a member of Challenger’s International coaching staff, flown to the USA exclusively to work on these programs. Two camps will be offered for multiple age levels. First Kicks, for children ages three – five years, will be offered from 8:00 am – 9:00 am. Half Day Camp, for kids ages six – 16 years, takes place each day from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

The British Soccer Camp program will teach Challenger’s own brand of individual foot-skills, fakes, moves and turns, freestyle soccer, technical and tactical instruction, small-sided games, daily world-cup-style tournament, cultural education, character building and fun.

The program boasts an incredible team of coaches from Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Brazil, Spain, France, United States and Canada as well as the traditional team of Brits from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Wales. This diversity of experiences and cultures reflects the truly global nature of the sport of soccer.

Additionally, campers can continue to improve what they have learned at camp throughout the year through iChallenge – Challenger’s new personal coaching app. Campers view and practice the skills linked to their ability level, upload a video of themselves completing the skills, and then receive personalized online coaching from a member of Challenger’s virtual coaching team.

Half Day Camp, for ages six – 16 years, is $135. First Kicks, for ages three – five years, is $80.

Each Camper will receive over $100 of free gifts, including a camp t-shirt, soccer ball, action poster with camp report, a 12-month subscription to Online Coaching Resource, and access to the personal coaching app. For more information, contact the Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department at (620) 231-8310.
