A $1.8M grant will support alternative transportation between PSU, Downtown Pittsburg corridor

The City of Pittsburg was recently awarded a $1,812,000 grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation through the Transportation Alternatives Program.

The funding will go toward enhancing the connectivity of the Pittsburg State University campus to the Downtown Pittsburg corridor.

The work will include sidewalk enhancements and related ADA modifications along parts of Elm Street and Locust Street between East Cleveland and East 2nd Street.

The design of the project is anticipated to begin in late 2026, following the execution of the required documents and ther engineering selection process.
