Friendly reminder: Please remove political signs following the election

Now that the election has concluded, the City of Pittsburg would like to thank all candidates, campaign volunteers, and residents for their participation in the electoral process.

This is a friendly reminder that political signs should now be removed from private property and from City street rights-of-way. While Kansas law (K.S.A. 25-2711) allows political signs to be displayed during the election period and for two days following an election, that period has now expired. Signs should be promptly removed to help maintain the appearance, safety, and accessibility of our community.

Residents are also reminded that signage within the City is regulated under Article 27 of the City of Pittsburg Zoning Ordinance. All signs placed on private property must comply with applicable zoning requirements, including permitting, size, placement, and safety standards. Permit requirements may apply, and property owners and businesses are encouraged to contact the Building Services Department before installing signage.

Additionally, signs are not permitted within City-owned rights-of-way at any time. Signs placed within public rights-of-way will be removed by the City to protect public safety, maintain visibility for motorists and pedestrians, and preserve access to public infrastructure.

The City appreciates everyone’s cooperation in removing outdated campaign materials, along with any other non-permitted signage, and helping keep Pittsburg clean, safe, and attractive for all residents.

For questions regarding sign regulations, permits, or right-of-way locations, please contact the City of Pittsburg Building Services Department.

Thank you for your cooperation and your commitment to our community.
