A portion of East 14th Street closed for bridge project

PITTSBURG, KS – The City of Pittsburg is closing East 14th Street between Lakewood Drive and Home Street to allow the contractor, Mission Construction to begin work on the East 14th Street Bridge Replacement Project beginning Monday, July 20.

This project consists of the removal of the existing single-span bridge and the construction of a new concrete slab beam bridge, new asphalt surface, concrete sidewalk, guardrail, storm sewer, grading and erosion control.

According to the contract, the contractor will have 120 calendar days to complete this project; therefore, the road closure is expected to remain in effect over the next couple of months.

Advance notification signs will be in place during construction. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes when possible, to use extreme caution when traveling in the area of construction, and be aware of workers in the work zone.
