Storm Siren Testing
The City of Pittsburg will begin testing its outdoor storm warning system beginning on Wednesday, March 11th, and will continue every other Wednesday through September 23rd, at 12 noon. Should the weather not be favorable the sirens will not be tested and will be rescheduled for testing again in two weeks. The sirens will be sounded twice; once should be a continuous tone for storm warnings and the second should be an on/off tone for air attack warnings.

Burn Site
The City of Pittsburg will be offering a burn site for citizens of Pittsburg to take their brush and limbs. The burn site is located 1.5 miles east of Rouse on Quincy (north side of Quincy) and will be available the second Saturday of each month beginning July 11th, from 8 a.m. until noon. This is for limbs and brush only and you will be required to show an ID as proof that you live within the Pittsburg city limits. For more information, please call 231-8310.

Health & Safety Fair
The City of Pittsburg would like to say thanks to the following vendors who participated the City of Pittsburg’s 2009 Health and Safety Fair. Early Detection Works, CHC Dental , American Home Patient, Crawford Co. Extension, Kansas Hwy Patrol, Resources of the Blind, Mt. Carmel Medical Center, CHC of SEK, Curves, Child Care Resource and Referral, Family Resource Center, Parents as Teachers, Advanced Directives and File of Life, Adult Education, Grene Vision Group, Linda Scales Message Therapy, ICMA, Troy Whetzel, Prepaid Legal, and Learning Quest. Special thanks goes to Nancy Evans at Community Health Center for making arrangements with the vendors. The fair was a huge success thanks to her hard work and dedication. Also thanks to City of Pittsburg volunteers who helped make it happen as well. We look forward to next year and hope that you will participate again.
