Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
Firefighter I and II preferred at time of employment and mandatory within eighteen months.
EMT-B preferred at time of employment and mandatory within eighteen months.

Interested parties should follow the Fire Department’s Facebook page. Any active recruiting will be announced there at https://www.facebook.com/PittsburgFireDepartment
The application process will involve filing an application with the City of Pittsburg.
Interested applicants will then take a physical agility test, a written aptitude test, and 2 different interviews.
Candidates selected will attend the Pittsburg Fire Recruit Academy conducted by members of the Pittsburg Fire Department. The Academy will consist of physical fitness training, classroom & practical instruction
Those who successfully complete the Recruit Fire Academy will serve a one-year probation and will be required to successfully complete a Probationary Firefighter Task Book.
Personnel that do not have an IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter I & II and a Kansas EMT must obtain these certifications prior to the end of their probationary period.
