What type of forestry services does Parks & Recreation provide?

The Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department helps maintain public green spaces, such as lawn mowing and tree removal. The department also oversees the City’s burn site. Report any grass or tree concerns with SeeClickFix.

The burn site, located 1.5 Miles East of Rouse on Quincy Street, is open on the second Saturday of each month. Its hours of operation are from 8AM-12PM. This site is for tree limbs and brush only. No household trash, landscape timbers, etc. will be accepted.

What do I do with grass clippings?

Grass clippings and leaves may be taken to the Wastewater Treatment plant located located 1/8 mile east of 23rd Street and Michigan Street, on the north side of the road. The compost site will be open Monday through Friday from 8AM-7PM.
Residents are encouraged to use the site for leaves and grass clippings only. No other materials will be accepted in the compost pile. Proper use of the facility will help ensure it remains safe, clean, and accessible for everyone. The finished compost is available to the public free of charge.

The city handles tree removals that are in the public right-of-way and are causing concern. It also removes trees that can cause issue for utilities and utility accessibility. Parquet trees belong to the property owner and are not City’s trees.
