Structure Fire – 111 East 10th Street

At 8:53 pm Saturday, April 7, the City of Pittsburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 111 E. 10th St., Pittsburg. Upon arrival, personnel found heavy smoke and fire venting through the roof of the 1 ½ story, brick commercial building. The building was determined to be unoccupied. Fire suppression efforts began immediately.

The City of Pittsburg Police Department arrived to assist and checked a nearby residence for occupants to vacate the property. Residents were not at home, but police found a dog inside and removed it. The adjacent structure did not sustain damage.

The building and the contents inside the commercial building sustained extensive damage. Kansas State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to help with the investigation. The cause of the fire is undetermined, at this time, and investigators are still examining the scene.
