Pittsburg pools open for summer

The City of Pittsburg Aquatic Center will open this Friday, May 25, ushering in the official start of summer.

The aquatic center, located at 708 W. 9th St., in Pittsburg, will be open Monday through Sunday, with open swim hours from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and family swim time from 5:15 pm – 7:00 pm. Admission is free for children 0 – three years and $3.25 for children four – 15 years. Teens and adults between the ages of 16 – 54 get in for $4.25, and adults 55 years and older can swim for just $3.25.

Season passes to the aquatic center are available for individuals and families to purchase. An individual pass is $65, family season passes for up to four members is $145, and family members can be added for $20 per additional member.

Schlanger Pool, located at the 700 block of East 6th Street, in Pittsburg, will open Friday, June 1. Pool hours at Schlanger are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Admission is free. All children swimming must be seven years of age and under.

The City of Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department offers several swimming programs at the Pittsburg Aquatic Center during summer months for children and adults.

Registration for swim lessons is now available for Parent Tot classes (ages six months – four years), First Time classes (three – six years), and for swim students at levels 1 – 6. The first three-week session begins Monday, June 11.

Aquatic programs for adults include Water Aerobics Class, starting June 4, and Lazy River Challenge, starting June 11. A comprehensive list of aquatics programs can be found at www.pittks.org/aquatic.
