No injuries after Sunday morning fire

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 5:26 a.m., the Pittsburg Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 500 block of East 24th Street.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a residential structure heavily involved in fire. Firefighters initiated fire suppression operations and brought the fire under control. The property owner was not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross responded to assist the resident with immediate needs following the fire.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to assist with the investigation. Due to the extent of the damage, the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time. However, fireworks are not suspected of being the source of the fire.
