October 6, 2025

The City of Pittsburg recently appointed Missy Scott as its new Financial Director, overseeing the city’s financial operations.

Scott brings a wealth of experience to the position. Her career spans private corporate accounting, 16 years in banking—including roles in internal audit, business analytics, and as a controller—and most recently, fund accounting in higher education as Vice President of Finance and Operations at a local college.

“We are excited to have Missy working with us,” City Manager Daron Hall said. “She brings years of experience to the city and understands the nuances of fund accounting.”

Her role is crucial to maintaining the city’s financial stability.

“We’re entrusted with the public’s money, and I take that responsibility seriously,” Scott said. “I approach every financial decision as if I were spending my own money—with care, integrity and accountability.”

Prior to Scott’s hiring, the city’s Deputy City Manager Jay Byers managed the Finance Department for most of 2025.

“Jay and our finance team stepped up this past year and performed the day-to-day operations needed to keep the city running while we searched for the right person to fill the position,” Hall said. “Their efforts are greatly appreciated.”
