MEDIA RELEASE: Kidnapping / Sexual Assault Arrest

MEDIA UPDATE – September 4, 2020 – 2:45 PM

On Friday afternoon, September 4, 2020, at approximately 12:10 PM, the second suspect from this sexual assault incident, 25-year-old Fedor Lee Warren Lomax, of Pittsburg, turned himself in to law enforcement officers at the Pittsburg Police Department. Mr. Lomax was taken into custody without incident, and was later transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Mr. Lomax was arrested for one count of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and one count of aggravated intimidation of a victim. Mr. Lomax is being held in lieu of a $250,000.00 bond.

Additionally, after making his first appearance in court for charging, the other suspect, 24-year-old Abdul Wali Shoatz, had his bond amount increased to $250,000.00 by the 11th Judicial District Court of Crawford County, Kansas.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to a report of a possible kidnapping and sexual assault that occurred in the city limits of Pittsburg. The victim reported being held against their will for several hours and sexually assaulted by two male suspects earlier that morning. Investigation into this matter continued throughout the day and at approximately 6:50 p.m., one of the suspects, 24-year-old Abdul Wali Shoatz of Pittsburg, was located and arrested without incident. Shoatz was transported to the Crawford County Jail where he was booked in. Shoatz is being charged with aggravated kidnapping; two counts of rape; two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy; and aggravated intimidation of a victim. Shoatz is currently being held in lieu of a $100,000.00 bond.

The second suspect in this investigation has been identified as 25-year-old Fedor Lee Warren Lomax, of Pittsburg. A Crawford County warrant was issued for Lomax this afternoon and Pittsburg Police are currently seeking his whereabouts.
