Police Department Press Release

December 29, 2022

Thursday, December 29, 2022
Released by Lt. Rebekah Lynch

On Thursday morning, December 29, 2022, at approximately 4:14 a.m., officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of South Walnut Street for a burglary in progress. The reporting party called 911 and reported two subjects were stealing tires from his carport. Officers quickly arrived in the area and began searching for the suspects. The reporting party had surveillance cameras and was able to show officers the video footage of the crime as it had just occurred; as well as, video footage from a previous theft of items from the same carport the previous night. Video surveillance footage from December 28, 2022 showed suspects driving a Buick passenger car stealing items from the carport.

At approximately 4:24 a.m. on December 29, 2022, an officer spotted a 2000 Buick Regal occupied by two females near the area. The females were identified as 43-yearold Carrie Kay Devore, of Pittsburg, and 41-year-old Kandice Jean Devore, of Pittsburg. During the investigation, officers determined the vehicle driven by Carrie Devore, appeared to be the same vehicle observed in the video surveillance footage of the theft from December 28, 2022. In the video footage observed from the incident which had just occurred, it was determined the clothing worn by the suspects seen stealing tires from inside the carport, matched the clothing worn by Carrie and Kandice Devore.

Carrie Devore and Kandice Devore were placed under arrest, without incident, and transported to the Crawford County Jail. They were both booked in on one count of burglary of a non dwelling and misdemeanor theft. Both are being held without bond at this time. The tires stolen from the victim were located on a nearby property and returned to the owner.

Anyone having information related to this incident, or other incidents, is urged to contact the Pittsburg Police Department at 620-231-1700, or at our tip line, 620-231-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
