Death Investigation underway for Pittsburg PD

PITTSBURG, KANSAS – 4/17/25: On Thursday afternoon, April 17, 2025, detectives with the Pittsburg Police Department confirmed the identity of the decedent as 27-year-old Tokumatsu K. Platt, of Pittsburg. Mr. Platt’s body was transported to Kansas City yesterday morning for an autopsy. The autopsy is still pending. The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time. 4/16/25: On Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, at 7:47 a.m., officers with the Pittsburg Police Department along with first responders from the Pittsburg Fire Department and Crawford County EMS, were dispatched to 107 E 1st Street in reference to an unresponsive subject inside the locked fence. Officers arrived, made entry into the fenced area and located a subject deceased. Investigators responded to assist with the investigation and are continuing to investigate at this time. Initial investigation into this incident does not reveal any suspicion of foul play.
The decedent was located on property belonging to the City of Pittsburg, along the base of a radio signal tower. The decedent’s body has been sent to Kansas City for autopsy, and we are working with the Crawford County Coroner’s Office to help determine the cause and manner of death.
This incident is still under investigation at this time and additional information will not be released, pending notification of next of kin.
