City Announces New Location for Public Compost Site

Pittsburg, KS – The City of Pittsburg is relocating its compost site and will reopen public access to the compost pile beginning Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 8:00 AM. The new site is located 1/8 mile east of 23rd Street and Michigan Street, on the north side of the road.
The compost site will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and will serve as a long-term temporary location until the City completes construction of the new Waste Water Treatment Facility.
Residents are encouraged to use the site for leaves and grass clippings only. No other materials will be accepted in the compost pile. Proper use of the facility will help ensure it remains safe, clean, and accessible for everyone.
