A community conversation on housing and education

City of Pittsburg

February 24, 2020

PITTSBURG, KS – The Imagine Pittsburg 2030 (IP2030) Committee will host a Community Conversation on Thursday, February 27, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm, at Butler’s Quarters, 513 N. Broadway, in Pittsburg. Members of the public are invited to attend.

The committee will be diving into two IP2030 strategic focus areas: Education and Housing.

Education co-chairs will share some exciting initiatives and new programs surrounding workforce development. Come hear how our local businesses, school district and university are working to prepare students for meaningful future careers.

Housing co-chairs will share an update on future housing developments and how the City is working to address the community’s need for affordable, market-rate, high-end, and senior housing options. Come learn about new housing developments as well as revitalization efforts to address older neighborhoods.

Imagine Pittsburg 2030 is a strategic plan to address Pittsburg’s opportunities and challenges through the year 2030. Since the plan was adopted in 2012, the city has seen more than $480 million in completed projects, many of which are a result of public input gathered through the IP2030 visioning process. The IP2030 committee invites members of the community to catch the vision and get involved by attending a bi-monthly community conversation.
