Are you ready to make a real impact in your community? The City of Pittsburg is seeking dedicated and driven individuals to serve as Communications Technicians—the critical link between the public and emergency responders.

In this fast-paced, high-energy role, you’ll be the calm voice on the line, responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls. No two days are ever the same, and your actions will help save lives, protect property, and serve the community.

Shift Information
Our team operates around the clock, and you’ll work one of two schedules that include both day and night shifts (6 a.m. – 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.), with weekends and holidays shared across the team.


Bonus: Our current rotation of 5-5-2-2 schedule not only gives you a great work-life balance but includes every other weekend off!

Qualifications

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency, proficient typing skills required.  Experience in an emergency services communications division with basic knowledge and/or experience with the use of computer systems, multi-line telephone and 911 systems, two-way radio systems and other related communications equipment; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Requirements

The primary duties of this class are performed in a fast paced, high volume call center environment frequently under high stress situations and demands. Employee MUST be available to work either shift plus weekends and holidays and overtime (scheduled and non-scheduled). Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of this work, you must also be able to pass a criminal background check and drug testing. Additional post offer testing may be required.
