On Tuesday, Oct. 20, citizens gathered at Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center for the 2026 State of the City Address.
The address was read by Mayor Chuck Munsell, who, since first being elected in 2013, has become the longest-serving commissioner in the City of Pittsburg.
As Pittsburg celebrates its 150th anniversary, it’s a great time to reflect on a year filled with progress, investment, and community pride.
Many projects were made possible through bond funding, grants, donations, and the support of local taxpayers. City leaders also worked together to lower the mill levy and reduce property taxes, providing savings for residents in the coming year.
Major investments continued across the community, including new and expanded businesses, housing developments, public infrastructure, and recreational amenities.
Public safety saw significant success, with crime rates reaching their lowest levels in more than 20 years and the Fire Department expanding training, equipment, and community risk-reduction efforts.
Public Works paved approximately 12 miles of streets, while construction of the new wastewater treatment plant reached 60% completion.
None of these accomplishments would be possible without the dedication of nearly 300 city employees, approximately 100 citizen volunteers serving on boards and committees, community partners, local businesses, and residents. Together, they continue to make Pittsburg a great place to live, work, and play.
