PSU Nature Reach

We will need a table for a tablecloth. We will have preserved specimens on tables, examples of ways to help wildlife, brochures, and a couple of easy activities we can rotate through throughout the day. Due to the nature of this outdoor event, we may or may not be able to have a live animal. We will need some space--maybe a 10'x10' area to have some activities for kids.

My activity would be growing milkweed plants for monarch butterflies. I would bring soil, peat pots, milkweed seeds, and educational materials. The goal is to have attendees stop by, assemble their own pot with seeds and soil, and take literature about monarch butterflies. The attendees can stop by and take 5 minutes to assemble their own, or take a small lunch bag with the items in it.

Cub Scout Pack 151 & Troop 151

"Into the Woods"

Educational materials: We will have a tri-fold poster display showing native trees and native plant species to our area. Also on the poster the parts of a tree. We also plan to display a portion of a tree trunk so kids can learn what the rings of a tree look like and mean.

Activity: kids will get to plant a "native" seed that they've learned about in a cup with potting soil. (I'm hoping to get both the seeds and the potting soil donated, if approved I will start that process)

If allowed Troop 151 has a surplus of popcorn we would love to set out for sale. Also Pack 151 is selling candy bars to raise money for camping supplies.
