Cakes, Cookies & Connections

July 8 at 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Pittsburg Police Department’s Family Response Advocate Program is partnering with The Blue Spoon to host Cakes, Cookies & Connections, a community event designed to raise awareness about the Blue Envelope Program while providing residents with an opportunity to learn more in a welcoming, relaxed setting.
The event will be held on Wednesday, July 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Blue Spoon.
Community members are invited to stop by to learn how the Blue Envelope Program helps improve communication between individuals and law enforcement during traffic stops. The Blue Envelope is designed to assist individuals who may have autism, developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, communication differences, anxiety, or other medical conditions by providing officers with important information in a simple, recognizable format.
During the event, Family Response Advocates and Officers of the Pittsburg Police Department will be available to answer questions, explain how the program works, and assist individuals in signing up for a Blue Envelope.
As a special thank you for attending the Blue Spoon is offering a FREE Blue Cookie while supplies last. During the event, enjoy 30% off your order at The Blue Spoon when you present your Blue Envelope.
“This event is about building connections, increasing understanding, and ensuring our community members know about a valuable resource that can make interactions with law enforcement less stressful,” said Diann Gambill, Lead Family Response Advocate with the Pittsburg Police Department. “We are grateful to The Blue Spoon for partnering with us to help spread awareness in such a fun and welcoming way.”
The Blue Envelope Program is available to both drivers and passengers of all ages. Participation is voluntary, and Family Response Advocates are available to explain the program and help participants prepare their envelopes before they leave.
The Pittsburg Police Department encourages community members, families, caregivers, and service providers to attend and learn more about this important initiative.
