The community is invited to town halls hosted by the Administration of Recreation Sport class in Pittsburg State University’s Health, Human Performance and Recreation Department and the City of Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department (PPRD).
“The ultimate goal of our efforts is to give PPRD data, suggestions, and a strategy to best meet the needs and preferences of the Pittsburg community,” PSU Assistant Professor Natalie Bird, Ph.D. said.
The town hall meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 2, and Wednesday, March 4, at the Lincoln Center, 710 W. 9th St., in Pittsburg.
They are inviting anyone in the Pittsburg area community who has or would like to participate in PPRD programming, use PPRD facilities, or engage with others in the community.
The class will use data from these meetings to create a strategic plan and will disseminate a community survey sometime in March.
“We’re excited to partner with Pitt State students for the town hall and look forward to what they learn,” PPRD Recreation Superintendent Jason Cecil said.
