Thanks to donor 150 bikes to be given away to celebrate Pittsburg’s 150th anniversary

The Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Easter Egg Hunt is a staple spring tradition for the City of Pittsburg. This year’s hunt is set to start at 11 a.m. on March 28 at the Don Gutteridge Sports Complex, 702 Memorial Drive.

Thanks to a generous donor and in honor of Pittsburg’s 150th anniversary, 150 of the 25,000 eggs scattered around the Don Gutteridge Sports Complex will contain a slip that serves as a ticket for a bike. Bikes will not be on site during the Easter egg hunt and can be picked up from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center, 503 N Pine St. Additionally, the street in front of the auditorium will be closed to allow the children to try out their new bikes.

“The Pittsburg Park and Recreation Department extends a warm thank you to Al Patel, owner of Pitt Discount Liquor and Pitt Discount Smokes, for their sponsorship of the event that made such a celebration possible,” PPRD Superintendent Jason Cecil said.

Patel also donated candy-filled Easter eggs, which children aged 0-12 can try to collect as many as possible. Each designated age group will be hunting in separate balls fields across the complex:

  • children aged 0-2 will be at Ted Carnino Ball Field;
  • ages 3-5 will be at Bill Russell Ball Field;
  • ages 6-7 will be at Dale Conner Ball Field;
  • ages 8-9 will be at Kelly Ball Field,
  • ages 10-12 will be at the Bunk Ball Field,
  • and people with special needs will be at Jaycee Ball Field.

This event is free and open to the public. Attendees can go straight to their designated field upon arrival.
