PPRD’s Mama Miles

The Mama Miles walking group meet twice a week at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The location of the walk will vary, and updates will be posted on Pittsburg Parks and Recreation’s Facebook weekly. Moms are welcome to bring their strollers and children along for the walk. Mama Miles is completely free and requires no registration.

PPRD’s Senior Bingo

Join Pittsburg Parks and Recreation for bingo, snacks, and good company. The event starts at 1 p.m. at the Lincoln Center, 710 W. 9th, Pittsburg. Cost: 50 cents per meeting, 25 cents per card. For more information contact PPRD at 620-231-8310.

Pittsburg Public Library: Talking Heads Discussion Group

The Talking Heads Discussion Group meets on Friday mornings at 9 a.m. at the Library. Using The Great Courses Series from The Teaching Company, participants watch a 30-minute DVD lecture and then the floor opens for discussion. New participants are always welcome!

Library Board of Trustees Meeting

The Library Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting in-person in the Pittsburg Public Library meeting room. Meetings are typically held on the second Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact Bev Clarkson at 620-231-8100.

Sustainability Advisory Committee Meeting

The Sustainability Advisory Committee will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at City Hall. The committee typically meets every second Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m.

Memorial Auditorium Advisory Board Meeting

The Memorial Auditorium Advisory Board will hold its regular meeting at Memorial Auditorium. This board meets every other month on the second Wednesday at 4 p.m.

PPRD’s Timeless Travelers SOLD OUT 3/31/2026

Take a trip with PPRD’s Timeless Travelers for Elvis and Elton-themed entertainment and a three-course meal for senior citizens at the New Theatre in Overland Park, KS on April 8. Register by April 6. Cost: $75. Register by calling Pittsburg Parks & Recreation at 620-231-8310.

MACC: PHS Theatre Dept Presents “Anastasia”

The Pittsburg High School Theatre Department will present the hit Broadway musical “Anastasia” at 7 p.m. on April 9 and 10, and at 2 p.m. on April 12 at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center, 503 N. Pine St.

PPRD’s Kids Garage Sale

The Kids Garage Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, April. 11, at the Lincoln Center, 710 W 9th St, Pittsburg. The garage sale has an entry fee of $8 for the first table, with an additional fee of $5 for every additional table. There is a 2-table limit per household. Those interested in signing up can register by calling 620-231-8310 or by visiting the Lincoln Center, 710 W 9th St.

Pittsburg City Commission Meeting

The Pittsburg City Commission meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m., inside the Beard-Shanks Law Enforcement Center courtroom. Commission meetings are broadcast live on Cox channel 6, Craw-Kan channel 406, and on the city’s YouTube channel: www.pittks.org/YouTube.

Dementia Caregivers Support Group

The Dementia Caregivers Support Group will meet from 10-11 a.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library. The support group is facilitated by the KU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. The group offers an opportunity for caregivers to engage and support each other throughout their journey. The group meets on the third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. at the library. New participants are always welcome and no registration is required.

Companions in Grief Support Group

The Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice is hosting Companions in Grief, a grief support group. The group will meet from 2 to 3 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Pittsburg Public Library. This monthly support group is for adults coping with the loss of a loved one. Hospice staff will provide information and allow time for sharing. The group is open to the community.

Family Response Advocates – Artsy Thursday

During the Week of the Young Child, the Family Response Advocates host an event called Artsy Thursday. Art supplies will be given to the first 100 people. The event will begin at 3 p.m. on April 16 in front of the Pittsburg Law Enforcement Center, 201 N Pine St.

Farmers’ Market Grand Opening & Earth Day Celebration

The Pittsburg Farmers’ Market Grand Opening will be from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. on April 18 at the Farmers’ Market Pavilion on 119 E 11th St, Pittsburg. The Farmer’s Market will also be celebrating Earth Day during the grand opening.

PPRD’s Crafters Club, for senior citizens

Join Pittsburg Parks & Recreation for an event with creativity fun and good company for senior citizens. The event is set for 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Center, 710 W 9th St. RSVP by April 7 by calling 620-231-8310. Cost: $15.
