Crawford County, KS – The Kansas Department of Commerce released updated median wage date on July 1, 2025, showing encouraging signs of economic progress for Crawford County. The county’s median annual wage has risen to $40,337, marking a 5.5% increase over the 2024 figure.

The increase not only reflects positive short-term momentum but also continues a strong upward trend over the past four years. In 2021, Crawford County’s median annual wage stood at $29,304. The 2025 figure represents a growth of nearly 38% since then. This rate significantly outpaces the national inflation rate of 17.53% over the same period making for substantial real wage gains in Pittsburg.

“Real wage increases are indisputable evidence of economic growth, and have absolute positive impact on the lives of our citizens,” Deputy City Manager Jay Byers said.

The Kansas Department of Commerce uses these median wage figures as a benchmark for wage figure as a benchmark for wage standards in its various business incentive programs, making this growth not only a signal of improving economic conditions but also an asset in future economic development initiatives.

“This is further proof of what’s possible when we all work together to move our community forward,” Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce President Blake Benson said. “Pittsburg is a thriving regional hub of commerce, health care, education, recreation, and I’m excited to continue this trajectory of growth into the future.”
