Pittsburg Beautiful has many areas that were created by the volunteer organization and those areas are also maintained monthly by the group. These areas include:
- Walnut & Kansas Streets Triangle
- YMCA Triangle & Flag
- Lincoln Park Sign at 12th Street & US 69 Hwy
Welcome To Pittsburg Signs
Bob Blunk was instrumental in planning and design of the first welcome sign located at 20th and the Bypass. This sign was created to make a statement to visitors about our community. Jim Buche & Dave Nance worked together with the City on the north & south welcome signs. Pittsburg Beautiful continues to pay for & maintain these entrances to Pittsburg.
Originally a motion was made by Christine Scott to purchase 26 Urns for the downtown. These Urns could be paid for by citizens and dedicated to their businesses or loved ones. As part of streetscape another 10 Urns were added for a total of 36 Urns that Pittsburg Beautiful maintains.
Trail Head Park
Pittsburg Beautiful had funding that they were considering for a piece of art. That art became the park which now serves as the entrance to the down
town district. Pittsburg Beautiful worked closely with PSU and the City of Pittsburg to assure the vision of the pergola, the landscaping, sidewalks and curbing met the specifications of Pittsburg Beautiful.
Pittsburg’s RV & Bike Park
The RV Park located on west 20th was looking run down. With the City already having plans to overlay the asphalt Pittsburg Beautiful asked what else was needed. Discussions of cross country bicyclists sleeping in Lincoln Park took place & how we could better serve them with a camp ground. A three semester involvement from PSU Construction Dept. ca
me about with one semester creating a master plan & the next two semesters in construction. Pittsburg Beautiful has been the sole contributor to the new pavilion and restroom & shower facility that will serve visitors for years to come
Bypass Clean Up
Twice a year Pittsburg Beautiful organizes a Bypass clean up. This clean up effort takes place in the spring and again in the fall.
