 Swim Lessons 
Registration opens on May 1st. 

3 Week Sessions | Monday - Thursday
All classes are held at the Pittsburg Aquatic Center
Fee: $25.00 per session per child 

 Session 1: June 6 - 23, 2016 Session 2: July 11 - 28, 2016
10:15am - 10:55 am  •  11:00am - 11:40am  •  7:15pm - 7:55pm

Level  Description
6 months-3 years; this program builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more. 
First Time Swim 3 years-5 years; children will learn basic water skills and getting use to the water. These skills include water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more. Once students can perform these basic skills they will advance to Level 1. 
Level 1 Introduction to Water Skills; basic water safety rules, using a life jacket, submerging mouth, nose, and eyes, opening eyes underwater & picking up submerged object, swimming on front and back using arm and leg action, recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help, exhaling underwater, floating on front and back 
Level 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills; moving in the water while wearing a life jacket, submerging entire head, front and back glide, treading water using arm and leg motions, recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help, bobbing in the water, jellyfish float, swimming using combination stroke on front and back 
Level 3  Stroke Development; reaching assist, submerging and retrieving an object, front and back glide, front and back crawl, kneeling or standing dive (shallow dive progression), rotary breathing in horizontal position, survival float, back float, butterfly-kick and body motion 
Level 4 Stroke Improvement; safe diving rules, dive from stride position or shallow dive, survival float, back float, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, throwing assist, feet-first surface dive, front and back crawl 
Level 5 Stroke Refinement & Skill Proficiency; survival swimming, standing dive, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, sidestroke, tuck and pike surface dives, flip turns, water safety, basic rescue techniques

Water Aerobics

Bored with your workout routine inside the same ol' facility??? Water aerobics is an exciting and fun way to workout and have fun! Water aerobics provides resistance and is low-impact on joints! Don't wait to sign up! And be sure to bring a friend! 
Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Time: 9:00am - 10:00am

Lazy River Challenge
Lazy Rivers aren't just for floating and pina coladas...
This class is anything but lazy!!!

Participants will enjoy strength exercises as you walk or jog through the resistance of the current in the lazy river!
This is a great lower body and cardio workout! Water shoes recommended.
