Top Gun Fundraising Achievement
Pittsburg City Manager Daron Hall is proud to announce that the Pittsburg Police Department has been named a “Top Gun” agency for its fundraising efforts to support Special Olympics Kansas. Pittsburg Police Officer Chris Moore, who is the Southeast Regional Coordinator for Special Olympics, was fundamental in coordinating the numerous fund-raising activities, and helping to raise $32,916.00. The Pittsburg Police Department raised more money for Special Olympics Kansas than any other agency in the State of Kansas during the year 2012. Special Olympics Kansas is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports competitions, health and nutrition programs and leadership development. Offering year-round initiatives to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics Kansas is a platform for acceptance and inclusion as well as one of the largest advocates for healthy lifestyles in the state – regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or cultural differences. Congratulations Pittsburg Police Department on a job well done!
