Broadway & Centennial Intersection Improv.
Click here for the interactive Project Map
DESCRIPTION:

Reconstruction of the intersection as concrete pavement, installation of a new traffic signal, providing for minimal milling and overlay on the west and north legs of the intersection and the partial reconstruction of the west drive to the mall.  (The west side of the intersection does not align with the street on the east side of Broadway.  There are also drastic changes in the grade on the east side which impede traffic.  Improvements will provide better access to the mall and aid in the promotion and development of the SW corner of this intersection.)

AUTHORIZING RESOLUTION:

Not required, City’s share ($200,000) is being funded through RLF.

ESTIMATE OF PROBABLE COST:

$1,284,150

FUNDING SOURCE:

KDOT Geometric Improvements Grant  90% State ($800,000 max.)/10% Local
(Local share estimated at $200,000 will be funded through RLF)
KDOT Federal-Aid HSIP (Safety Funds) 90% State/10% Local ($200,000)
(HSIP funding will be for the right turn lane at the mall entrance on Centennial.  This funding is eligible for construction and inspection work phases only.  Design, R/W and utility relocation remain the responsibility of the City.)
There is only a short extension of the City water main that will be required and will be funded within the Public Utilities operating budget.  Future plans to extend a 16” line on Langdon Lane from the intersection south to Country Club Road, west to US 69 (City’s South Industrial Park) to service proposed new industries in this area.
