Meet the Director of Parks & Recreation
Kim Vogel’s career started with the City of Pittsburg in May of 1999. Mrs. Vogel began in the Department of Public Works and then moved to a full time position in the Department of Finance handling accounts payable and receivable. In December of 1999 Mrs. Vogel began her full time career in the Department of Parks and Recreation as Recreation Superintendent and in June of 2010 she became Director of Parks and Recreation.
Mrs. Vogel has been active in creating new opportunities for area youth and adults through recreation. She created seven new programs that are still running while improving upon programs that were implemented prior to her arrival to the department.
Mrs. Vogel has obtained grants through The Pritchett Trust Foundation for playground equipment at both Lakeside Park and Kelly Concession Stand. She has been awarded two Tennis In The Parks grants from the National Recreation and Park Association and has received two monetary Top Site awards for Outdoor Kansas Kids Day.
Mrs. Vogel is on the boards of the Everybody Plays Committee, The Stillwell Foundation, Crawford County Relay For Life, PATH (Personal Action Toward Health), Little Balkans Committee, PSU Health Human Performance and Recreation Advisory Committee, and Kansas State Hershey Track and Field Committee. Mrs. Vogel previously served on the Kansas Recreation and Park Association Board of Directors as SE Member at Large and on the Kansas Recreation and Park Association Recreation Branch as SE Member at Large.
Mrs. Vogel graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration. She is married to Jesse and has two children, Liberty and Kaden.
