This pump station is a major link in the wastewater delivery to the WWTP. The pump station was originally equipped with slip ring recovery system of variable speed pumping. This system was not viable and was discarded. The result is that the pumps start across the line frequently thus making electrical demand charges significant. The pumps, in high weather, deliver large quantities of water to the plant and due to the surge of water, the plant gets overwhelmed and results in bypassing of wastewater due to hydraulic disturbances at the headworks. Flow monitoring is absent except for temporary flow monitoring in the incoming sewers. This project will add new pumps more properly sized to extend pump run times, add frequency modulation for variable speed pumps, minimize treatment plant upsets and resulting bypasses, improve water quality due to more efficient plant operations and allow remote and onsite flow monitoring to help in the effort to control inflow/infiltration.
