Meet the Director of Public Works

Cameron Alden became the City Engineer and Public Works Director in August 2015. Mr. Alden came to Pittsburg from Aqua, a private water and sewer utility, where he was the Regional Engineer overseeing the capital budget and projects for its Indiana and Illinois operations. During his 10 years with Aqua, Mr. Alden also held the positions of Utility Engineer, Distribution Manager, and Division Manager.

Mr. Alden started his career in 1994 with the City of Danville, Illinois as a resident engineer overseeing the construction of various public works projects. His responsibilities also included the design of various street, sewer and water projects. From 1999 to 2004, he served as the City Engineer and Assistant Public Works Director for Danville.

Mr. Alden has been active in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He served as the President of the East Branch of the Illinois ASCE Chapter. He is also a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Community service has been part of his background as he has served on the boards for the American Red Cross, the YMCA, and Community Action.

Mr. Alden graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer. He returned to school and obtained his MBA from Olivet Nazarene University in 2015. He and his wife Kellie have two grown sons and a grown daughter.
