WATER TREATMENT PLANT IMPROVEMENTS – PHASE I
KPWSLF PROJECT NO. 2489

DESCRIPTION:
Construction water treatment facility improvements and to rehabilitate the existing Water Treatment Plant to accommodate a 7.0 MGD capacity. These improvements will allow the City to meet water supply needs of the community through the year 2015. This project will modify and enhance the existing Water Treatment Plant to accomplish increased peak day capacity. Major components which will be upgraded include: aerations towers (H2S removal); ozone treatment for H2S removal and disinfection; flash mixing; chemical feed; softening basin improvements; addition of new softening basin; recarbonation; upgraded filters; replacement of high service pumps; electrical switchgear; electrical power; and automated electrical controls.

KDHE Kansas Public Water Supply Loan Fund
ARRA Funding (50% of loan will be forgiven by KDHE at completion of project)

Updates:
This project was let for bids on January 14, 2010 with construction beginning on May 3, 2010. Substantial completion and final completion are scheduled for November 4, 2011 and December 24, 2011 respectively. Construction continues and the actual startup date for Phase I (work outside the existing Plant) is scheduled for June 1, 2011. Click here to watch live video construction updatess.
