Elementary and Secondary Education Overview

Unified School District 250 (Pittsburg Community Schools) serves over 2,600 students, providing first class teaching in four elementary schools, a middle school and one high school. All schools in the district have been newly constructed or remodeled since 2001. St. Mary’s Elementary and Colgan Junior/High Schools provide a catholic education in a newly constructed elementary and recently remodeled junior/high schools. The community also supports several smaller religious schools.

Higher Education Overview

Pittsburg State University, one of six Kansas Regents Universities, is composed of four colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, and Technology. PSU offers more than 100 undergraduate  and graduate programs, many of which have been recognized on the national and international levels. PSU offers workforce development through the Kansas Technology Center and the Business & Technology Institute. Both short term customized training and extended workforce education is available.
