Traffic & Communications
The Traffic and Communications Division is responsible for:
  • Installing and maintaining all electrical and electronic systems for the city
  • Installing and maintaining approximately 38 traffic signal devices
  • Keeping inventory of and maintaining all traffic control devices within the city
  • Maintaining 13 emergency storm warning sirens
  • Maintaining the city's communication systems
  • Monitoring the city weather radar system, consisting of one transmitter and two receivers
  • Painting all curbs, lanes, and school crossings
  • Performing upkeep on the emergency warning systems for the Police Department, Fire Department, and city vehicles
  • Working with Kansas Gas and Electric on the maintenance and installation of 2,000 street lights
