Special Response Team (SRT)
Response Incidents
The Pittsburg Police Department utilizes a Special Response Team (SRT) for tactical response to critical incidents. These incidents include:
  • Barricaded suspect situations
  • High-risk apprehension
  • High-risk warrant service
  • Hostage situations
  • Personal protection

The Special Response Team is comprised of 15 sworn officers, which include:
  • 10 Entry Officers
  • Two Snipers
  • Two Hostage Negotiators
  • One Team Commander

To be a member of the Special Response Team officers must meet certain requirements, which include time in service, satisfactory job performances, and satisfactory physical fitness levels. The Special Response Team members train between three and six hours per month. This is in addition to the normal training required of officers.
